Environmental issues are complex social-ecological linked problems; environmental systems science, policy and economic concerns are highly intertwined and often require a broad analysis to identify potential solutions. The ability to understand and problematize the driving factors behind both the scientific and societal aspects of environmental problems calls for systems thinking and modelling. Our research, often in co-operation with stakeholders, is focused on the use and development of a systems science approach in studying sustainability issues, landscape and resource use as well as environmental planning, ecosystem services, indicator development and governance. Our research is transdisciplinary with a base in systems anlysis and sustainable use of natural resources and ecosystems for the benefit of human well-being.
