For a geoscientist or geographer it is important to be able to collect data from maps, establish geographic databases, and use digital data from various sources. It is just as important to be able to assess the content of survey data for analysis, compilation and presentation using geographic IT. The course is intended to give the skills needed to conduct a GIS based project at a drainage basin or municipality scale.

The course is part of Master's Programme in Geomatics with Remote Sensing and GIS but can also be read as a separate course.

Competence equivalent to at least 90 ECTS credits in Earth sciences or geography or equivalent science or civil engineering competence and that must include the course Applied Remote Sensing and GIS for Landscape Analysis, 15 ECTS credits (GE7062) or at least 7.5 ECTS credits Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

Also required is knowledge equivalent to Swedish upper secondary school course English B/English 6.
